Buffalo cauliflower is one of my favorite ways to enjoy cauliflower. You have all loved my air fryer version so I decided to try this skillet recipe and boy is it ever delish! This recipe has only 4 ingredients plus salt and ready in less than 30 minutes including prep time. You can’t beat that for a delicious side, appetizer or just to snack on dish. The best part is you control the heat by adding more or less of the buffalo spice. It's that easy to customize this dish to your heat level liking! Serve it with your favorite ranch dressing for dipping.
Why You'll Love This Recipe
Minimal Ingredients: How can you not love a recipe that has only four ingredients (plus salt)? It comes together in one pan and is ready in 30 minutes making it the perfect side dish!
Whole30: This buffalo cauliflower is not only Whole30 compatible but it is also paleo, gluten and dairy free making it perfect for your dietary preferences.
You control the spice: Using a dry spice on this one allows you to control the amount of heat you get in the final dish. Not a spicy person, use less. Love that heat, use more! You are the boss!
Ingredients You Will Need
Cauliflower: When cooked, cauliflower becomes tender and has a mild flavor which makes it perfect for so many different recipes. Whether in soups, roasted, air fried or sautéed it soaks up the flavors you are using with it.
Ghee: Incorporating ghee adds a rich, nutty flavor. Ghee is clarified - meaning impurities have been removed, resulting in a pure and clear form of butterfat with lower lactose content than butter. This ghee is my favorite and you can use PennysPrimal15 for a discount!
Nutritional Yeast: Different from regular yeast, nutritional yeast adds a cheesy flavor to dishes without the need for dairy, making it a popular choice in vegan or dairy-free recipes.
Buffalo seasoning: Unlike it's liquid form, buffalo seasoning is a dry mix made up of garlic, onion, paprika and cayenne pepper. My favorite is Noble Made brand.
Salt: Elevates the overall flavor of any dish. Always salt in moderation in accordance with your dietary preferences.
Instructions
Place cauliflower: In a large skillet, place cauliflower evenly around the pan.
Sprinkle with buffalo spice: Sprinkle with buffalo spice, nutritional yeast and salt. (Using more or less of the buffalo spice to your heat level preference.)
Add ghee: Drop dollops of ghee all around pan.
On medium-high heat: Cook the cauliflower mix watching to be sure it does not burn but rather the ghee melts down over the cauliflower mix.
Once the ghee has melted: Toss to coat the cauliflower mixture with the ghee.
Once combined: Allow the mixture to sit a few minutes so it starts to brown and then toss to crisp up other side.
Enjoy!
Recipe Tips and Tricks
Buy pre-cut cauliflower: Want to save time? Purchase pre-cut cauliflower florets from the produce aisle and slice the larger florets before cooking.
Double this recipe: I love to double this recipe and save the leftovers for breakfast with fried eggs. It's yummy!
Recipe Variations
Nutritional yeast: not a fan of nutritional yeast? You can certainly omit it. You can also replace it with Vegan parmesan cheese.
Buffalo Spice: I really like using the dried spice in this recipe but if you are not concerned with the cauliflower getting crispy you can certainly use a liquid buffalo sauce.
Storage Tips
Gluten Free Buffalo Cauliflower can be stored in the fridge for 4-5 days when placed in a sealed airtight glass container, and it's freezer-safe for up to 6 months.
FAQs About Gluten Free Buffalo Cauliflower
Can I use frozen cauliflower?
I don’t recommend frozen cauliflower as it will create too much liquid in the pan and your cauliflower texture and level of crispness will not be the same.
Can I use buffalo sauce?
You can use buffalo sauce but it will create more liquid and your cauliflower will not get as crispy.
What goes good with buffalo cauliflower?
My favorite things to eat with buffalo cauliflower are chicken wings and coleslaw.
